KIAWAH ISLAND, SC (AP) - Rory McIlroy has won the PGA Championship, routing the field by a record eight strokes Sunday for his second major title.

McIlroy led throughout the final round at Kiawah Island, shooting a 6-under 66 and eclipsing Jack Nicklaus' seven-shot victory in 1980. McIlroy sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to break the record and finish at 13-under 275.

David Lynn shot a 68 to finish second.

McIlroy won the U.S. Open last year at Congressional in a similar runaway, beating Jason Day by eight strokes. Before McIlroy's victory Sunday, the last 16 majors had been won by 16 players.

Tiger Woods shot a 72 to finish 11 strokes behind.

DAVIE, FL (AP) - Six-time Pro Bowl receiver Chad Johnson has been released by the Miami Dolphins one day after he was arrested in a domestic battery case involving his wife.

Johnson was released from jail on $2,500 bond earlier Sunday after his wife accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home. Johnson was charged with simple domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

The confrontation came barely a month after Johnson married Evelyn Lozada, who is on the reality TV show "Basketball Wives." The 34-year-old Johnson had been battling for a spot on the team after a disappointing season with the New England Patriots in 2011.

The Dolphins announced Johnson's release Sunday night.

LONDON (AP) - Kevin Durant scored 30 points, LeBron James added 19 and the U.S. men's basketball team defended its Olympic title, holding off stubborn Spain 107-100 on Sunday for the gold medal - just as the Americans did in 2008.

Kobe Bryant added 17 for the U.S., which only led by one point after three quarters and was ahead just 97-91 when James drove the lane for a thunderous dunk and followed a miss by Spain with a 3-pointer.

In the final minute, U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski, in his final international game, took out his top stars who came to London determined to keep American basketball on top. When the final horn sounded, Krzyzewski locked James in a tight embrace as Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The USA" rocked the arena.

Pau Gasol scored 24 and Juan-Carlos Navarro had 21 for Spain, which had to settle for silver in the second straight Olympics.
